Lots of good news

Hey, not only are we pleased to be featured on Passionate Hope Volume Two from Indievision Music this week (you can find it at http://www.indievisionmusic.com/2012/07/01/passionate-hope-vol-2/ - a free download featuring several amazing bands)
BUT
There is also a great review of the EP from the USA, which you can find herehttp://alphaomeganews.org/content/2012/07/ghostree-ep/ - thanks to Ken Wiegman for that!
We'll be announcing tour dates with Superhero and Alamein's Torch soon.
Also, I'm in the middle of writing an album.
And lastly, it is my birthday, so all is good!

An Update...

Hello,

We've been quiet recently. Sorry about that. I (Haydon) have been busy writing new songs for the band's next record (more of that later) as well as finishing up at school for the year. Ben and I are also getting ready to spend part of the summer working with our friend Jim Rogers, which we're very excited about.

A couple of cool things:

We're appearing on a forthcoming compilation. Passionate Hope Volume II from Indievision. More info here. This is a cool compilation, featuring some friends of ours such as We Are Creation and Ascend The Hill, as well as Lovelite, My Epic and Empire Nation, all of whom we love! The record comes out as a free download on July 1st. Check it out!

Second, Camp America has been working on a remix of You They See, which is sounding huge, and will be out sometime over the summer. He has a fantastic record out recently. You should check that out too!

We're booking now for shows in the autumn. Can't wait to play to you all!

One Resolve

Half of us (Haydon and Mark) are excited to be on the bill for One Resolve tomorrow night at Revival Fires in Dudley. We've been invited by our good friend Ryan Baker-Barnes. It's going to be a great night of songs old and new. Come along and say hi!

More info on the night can be found at Louder Than The Music. Hope to see you there!

Never For Nothing EP Review

The UK email newsletter, Never For Nothing, have just published a really nice review of the EP. Here's the text of it:

GHOSTREE : Ghostree EP.                 Online only (independent)
UK four piece Indie band Ghostree have released their debut EP as an online only offering (for the time being at least) on Soundcloud.  However from first impressions, this release has the potential to go further as a hard copy CD.  Those that have read any of my previous reviews will be aware that I am partial to something a bit different than the run-of-the-mill praise & worship offerings & this sure fits the bill in that respect.  From the outset with the opening track “Hope” you’ll notice this isn’t your usual fayre with a rather atmospheric, slightly dark & possibly theatrical atmosphere & frontman Haydon Spenceley adds to this aura with his moody vocals - certainly fits the “indie” label.  “You They See” is a little lighter on the ears & has a good rocky feel to it.  My favourite on the EP has to be “Glorious” though as I found it to be one I would be likely to listen to repeatedly & not get bored.  It’s by no means a fast track but it still packs a punch in terms of the powerful God-centred praise lyrics & is certainly useable in a church setting – albeit with a little modification!  “Save My Day” follows on in a similar vein with “Hallelujah” completing this offering at a slightly more relaxed pace, but for me took a while to get going.  Difficult one to categorise is this – has a splash or REM in some respects with a dash of Coldplay.  Some may find it a bit too out of the ordinary but this grew on me!  Musicianship from this 4 piece outfit is excellent throughout & I have to admire some of the drum patterns & some of the rhythms could be occasionally seen as a tad experimental but it does work.  I look forward to seeing what else these guys can produce as I am sure there are greater things to come!  8/10  Simon Redfern

Big thanks to Simon Redfern, and Geoff Howlett for his continued support of UK independent bands.

We received a great review from Mind Equals Blown this week. You can find it here:
Thanks to Samantha Esgro for the review.

Here's the text of the short piece about our EP in this month's HM Pick of the Litter too:

Ghostree
Alternative rock from the UK. Slow, melodic and plodding with
layers and textures of sound (keys, drums, guitar, vocal effects.
Kinda dreamy pop.

HM Pick of the Litter

We're in HM's Pick of the Litter this month (we think!). HM is a cool Christian magazine, run by a diamond geezer from Texas named Doug Van Pelt. Doug has always been a solid supporter of the musical projects we've been involved in. I (Haydon) haven't seen the write-up yet, but assuming that the HM guys didn't hate our EP, we're very grateful for the coverage!
